Michael Johnson has been the director of Youth for
Christ in Martin County since 2001. Over that time, he has seen growth from
opening The Lighthouse Youth Center in Fairmont and ministry programs in the
surrounding communities of Sherburn and Granada.
Growing up in a blended family, Mike came to know Jesus as his Savior at the age of eight. After graduating from High School, Mike attended a one year international Bible School in England. After this time, Mike went to college and graduated with a degree in elementary education. Mid-way through the college years, Mike met and married Nancy. At the completion of his degree, the couple was expecting their first child and Mike also got a fourth grade teaching job in Lake Benton, MN. Danica Marie was born in 1993 and Mike and Nancy moved to Mankato after completing his one year teaching position. In Mankato, Mike substitute taught and eventually worked in a sales job for seven years, during which time the couple moved to Fairmont, MN. While in Fairmont, God make it clear to Mike through a variety of circumstances that sales was not were He wanted Mike to remain. Having a heart for “at risk” kids and desiring to make a difference in the young people of Martin County, the Lord led Mike to the ministry of Youth for Christ. In his eighth year of ministry, Mike has seen God change many lives in Martin County. He has also seen God provide an amazing team to minister to the young people. Mike and Nancy have four children. Danica, (age 16) Andrew, (age 14) Josiah, (age 12) and Lauren, (age 6) The family enjoys yearly vacations to Sunset Bay Resort in Northern MN as well as other get-aways to music festivals and some YFC conference events. Mike enjoys making meals with the family, playing football or basketball with the kids and doing a daily paper route with the boys.
I am so excited to have Shelly come “on board” the team at Martin County YFC!
